Our Community
We are so grateful to live in such a supportive community, with people who occasionally visit us to share their knowledge, skills and experience.

Zoologist
Nigel
After a career in environmental and countryside management, Nigel has identified more than 1000 species of insects and animals in his Somerset garden. Nigel has set up two overnight moth traps at our setting and inspired bug hunts and trails around the garden. His visits have completely inspired us about the wonders and vital role of these incredible tiny creatures.

Helen
Helen has worked for many years for Somerset Wildlife Trust and is currently Yeovil Rivers Community Trust Engagement Officer. Helen's specialism is birdsong. During her visit, she taught us several songs and inspired many of the children to become birdwatchers at home.

Pheasant Foot Farm
Paul
Paul, our neighbour (ex-assistant head and science teacher) has taken us on tours of the farm, where we had a close-up view of their amazing, reclaimed metal sculptures. As a mechanic, Paul is enthusiastic about vehicles and machines, which captured many children's imaginations when we visited.

Pheasant Foot Farm
Jo
On our visits to the farm, we get to meet the donkeys - Jo shows us how to care for them and we love grooming them! As an ex-teacher and author of children's stories, Jo has a wonderful understanding of children and we enjoy meeting the characters from her books, from handmade puppets, to large scale sculptures.

Sewing Specialist
Fiona
Fiona is a professional costume designer and sewing specialist and has visited our setting to show us sewing techniques, inspiring many of the children to sew.

Sewing Specialist
Debbie
Debbie, an ex-teacher and childminder, has worked in the UK and Russia, is a general whizz with fabric and in particular quilting, which she teaches. Debbie helped to get our Singer machine set up and hopes to visit us to teach sewing in the future.

Construction, Design and Drumming
Dave
Dave is Head of Construction at Yeovil College and has visited our holiday provision to share woodworking skills with the children. He is also a fantastic drummer and has made up a number of Little Brympton rhythms with us.

Museum and Heritage
Natasha
We were so fortunate that Natasha was able to visit our setting in 2025, to share the Museum of Curiosity with the children. We loved exploring her vintage objects and she enjoyed seeing our collection of traditional toys.

Rural Crafts
Chris
Chris kindly donated a spinning wheel and made us handmade spindles for our holiday clubs. He has shown us how to card and spin raw wool into yarn; even his jumpers are made from his own yarn!

Mobile library
Village Outing
When dates coincide with our openings, we love to visit the mobile library in our village. The children each choose three books to bring back to Little Brympton and it has inspired a lot of reading!
Community visitors enrich children's experiences and are supervised by Little Brympton staff at all times.
Thank you to these wonderful people for sharing their skills, knowledge and experience with us!
