Holiday Care Information for Parents and Carers
We hope that this website gives you a feel for what we offer at our Little Brympton Holiday Childcare.
​We work closely with all our parents. We will send you a list of what to bring with your booking information, along with our daily plans, so that you can share these with your children. Our approach and environments support the children's interests and at the end of each day, we send you a journal of photos and notes from our time, so that you can share in your children's experience. ​

Support and Safety at our holiday clubs
We support children in their own projects and ideas, using real tools where appropriate. All our areas and tools are carefully risk assessed and we supervise tool use, keeping any sharps away from universal access. Our favourable ratios enable us to give time and attention to supporting children to learn safe techniques. Below are some examples of this.​​
Sleeves rolled up and hands washed, before washing apples that we collected from our orchard.
Peeling and cutting apples onto the designated fruit and vegetable board, using child-safe sharp knives and the 'claw' or 'bridge' technique with the hand.
Laying up the table whilst the crumble cooks. Apple crumble has become something that is asked for each year.
Ear plugs, goggles and small-group tuition on hammering to make clay.
One-to-one learning of how to peel willow. Steading the willow, directing the tool down, working away from the body and using a cushion to support knees.
A child created this 'tool station' to ensure that our tools didn't get lost, or become trip hazards.
Our Policies
All our holiday care policies are continually reviewed, to reflect current research and in response to our experiences with the children.
Our policies are shared with families and staff and are used as practical guidance to support consistent decision-making, children's safety, wellbeing and positive experiences.

Inclusion and safety at our holiday care
As as small-scale home setting, our spacious natural and nurturing environment can cater for a wide range of needs. We strive to support all children who attend Little Brympton and work with families to understand each child's individual needs and make reasonable adjustments wherever possible. However, due to limits on our staff numbers and the use of real tools, we are not always able to meet the needs of children that require one-to-one, intensive regulation support, or a high level of adult intervention to maintain safety. Where a child’s needs mean that their safety, wellbeing, or the safety of others could be compromised, we may decide that Little Brympton is not the most suitable setting at that time. Any such decision is made carefully, compassionately, and always in the best interests of the child. We value open and honest communication with families and are always happy to discuss whether our setting is the right fit.

Hygiene notes

As an off-grid setting, our domestic water is rain water, which is filtered twice, flushed daily and has passed all national indicators. Hot water taps are isolated and adults mix temperature-appropriate water for washing up. We use a compost toilet, which is emptied and cleaned out daily and adults spot-check and clean toilets as necessary during the day. Our fridge is deep cleaned before each opening and is spot-checked daily.

Regular and thorough handwashing is emphasised at all times. We have two handwashing areas, accessible from the house or garden, where children can choose their own individually coloured flannel and enjoy the fruity handsoaps!

Food​

Our snacks are sugar free and we ask that children bring nut-free lunchboxes.

Any allergies or intolerances are accommodated.
