Our Story
The idea of developing holiday clubs at Little Brympton began at an early years conference, where a colleague and friend suggested that our home would be an ideal place to bring children.
Shortly after, on the train home, I began scribbling ideas and subsequently spent over a year gathering, sorting and making resources and treasures, clearing out cupboards and filling them with things that I hoped children would enjoy. I was shopping, training, researching and listening to countless podcasts in evenings, weekends and any spare moments in between jobs.
Gradually the dream has become a reality and it is always a joy to share the wonders of Little Brympton and to hear the home and garden come to life with excitable and contented children.
My background
I began working with pre-school children in my teens and work with early years children was threaded throughout my early career in dance and arts work, gathering focus in my late 20s. Since 2009, I have been involved in delivery, training, mentoring, making and exchange with over sixty UK settings (nurseries, pre-schools, reception classes, childminders, theatres, arts agencies) and with practitioners and artists in national and international networks (www.danceearlyyears.co.uk).
I was lucky to have the opportunity to lecture in Early Childhood at Canterbury Christchurch University from 2013–18, where I gained an MA in Early Years, Early Years Professional Status, a Post Graduate in Academic Practice (EY focus) and a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy. In 2022/3, I created Early Weaves, a non-verbal performance for 0-5 years, which is currently touring the UK and abroad, restaged and produced by Ascension Dance.
The idea of developing holiday clubs at Little Brympton has felt like a ‘coming home’ of my interests and passions and has been the most fulfilling and rewarding project I have ever worked on. I am excited by the offer we have developed here and look forward to welcoming you and your children.
