Our Curriculum
Our curriculum draws on research and practice from international pioneers and visionaries, past and present.
We use a responsive planning system, according to the children’s interests.
Our curriculum prioritises the three Prime Areas and Characteristics of Effective Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage, which we believe extend throughout lifelong learning.
Our Approach to Holiday Care
At our home-based, off-grid setting in Somerset, we focus on holistic, multi-sensory development in nature, supporting children's flow, through open-ended, suggestion-rich resources and spaces, within a stabilising and consistent daily routine.
Our Commitment to Quality
Our team has extensive experience in childcare, in particular, of creative, ecological, play-based practice.
We operate with purposefully low numbers of children and high numbers of adults.
Children have ample space, choice and resources, both indoors and out, to explore their unique interests.
We love what we do and are continually researching, training and learning, both with and without the children, to develop and evolve the provision.
A culture of kindness
We aim for kindness and care in all our interactions with children, families and our wider community.
We want everyone to feel welcomed, relaxed, at home and at ease here.
We hugely value our partnership with parents and carers and are fortunate to have a supportive local community, who help out in all sorts of ways.
Children are welcomed, not just at Little Brympton, but more widely in the village.
Promoting Physical Activity
Physical development is at the heart of our offer and central to our planning is a commitment to the NHS recommended 180 minutes of daily physical activity for young children.
Physical development is an essential building block for learning and we offer ample fine and gross motor opportunities, through small and large scale play and skills building.
As a dance and movement specialist, Hannah has designed the environments with children's schemas and eight senses in mind and offers daily dance and movement sessions.
Connecting with Nature
Being in nature offers infinite physical, creative, imaginative and explorative opportunities and we aim for children to connect with nature at every opportunity throughout their time with us.
We hope that this sensory-rich experience will inspire children's intrinsic connection with nature.
We are a screen-free setting, with the exception of an ipad that adults use to take photos.
Our Offer
We offer holiday clubs during the Easter, May, Summer and October educational holidays, for children aged 4-8 years.
Due to the challenges of off-grid winters, we are not able to offer childcare from November - February.
However, if you are interested in term-time child-minding for your child (April - October only), please contact Hannah.
